The Story

Richard Cheese is a lounge-singer persona created by actor, comedian and radio veteran Mark Jonathan Davis — a washed-up Vegas crooner, backed by his band Lounge Against the Machine, who covers contemporary rock, rap and pop songs as retro swing standards, imagining what Sinatra might have made of Radiohead or Disturbed.

The act's album titles run on puns against the songs they're covering: Aperitif for Destruction riffs on Guns N' Roses' Appetite for Destruction, Tuxicity riffs on nu-metal-era 'toxicity,' and I'd Like a Virgin riffs on Madonna's Like a Virgin.

Richard Cheese covers have turned up in films including Dawn of the Dead (2004), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and The LEGO Batman Movie, and on television including HBO's The Leftovers, alongside talk-show appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Active continuously since October 2000, Davis has released more than two dozen albums as Richard Cheese and continues to tour and record.
