The Story
Mr. Bungle formed in Eureka, California in 1985 as a teenage death-metal-leaning project, years before frontman Mike Patton joined Faith No More. The band built a reputation for theatrical, costumed live shows and a genre-scrambling sound spanning metal, ska, jazz and film-score textures across three studio albums: Mr. Bungle (1991), Disco Volante (1995) and California (1999).
The band's opening track on their debut, originally titled 'Travolta,' was retitled 'Quote Unquote' after legal pressure tied to the name.
In February 2020, Mr. Bungle reunited for three shows performing their original 1986 demo tape, The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny, in full — adding Anthrax's Scott Ian and former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo to the classic Patton/Trevor Dunn/Trey Spruance lineup. They then professionally re-recorded it as The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo, released that October via Patton's own label, Ipecac Recordings.
The band continues to tour and record, releasing a live album, The Night They Came Home, in 2021.
