Low Roar.

Low Roar began when American musician Ryan Karazija left California and moved to Reykjavík, Iceland, around 2010. Out of that displacement came a self-titled 2011 debut of hushed, homesick electronic folk — songs built from acoustic fragments, tape hiss and slowly gathering electronics.

Across 0 (2014), Once in a Long, Long While… (2017) and ross. (2019), the project grew colder and grander without losing its intimacy: glacial, patient music that always sounded like it was recorded somewhere very quiet and very far north.

In 2019 that sound reached millions when Hideo Kojima built Low Roar into the emotional fabric of the video game Death Stranding — the track 'I'll Keep Coming' had already anchored the game's first reveal trailer, and Kojima has credited the band as central to the project's feeling.

Ryan Karazija died in October 2022 at the age of 40. The album House in the Woods, released in 2025, stands as a final chapter — a project that turned loneliness and distance into something strangely warm.
