The Story
Gogol Bordello formed in New York City in 1999 around Ukrainian-born frontman Eugene Hütz, building a sound that fuses punk with Romani, Eastern European and immigrant musical traditions across a rotating, multinational lineup.
Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike (2005), Super Taranta! (2007) and Trans-Continental Hustle (2010, produced by Rick Rubin) built the band's international following. They've continued touring and recording since, releasing We Mean It, Man! in 2026.
Eugene Hütz is also an actor, playing the lead role of Alex in Everything Is Illuminated (2005), alongside roles in Wristcutters: A Love Story (2006) and Filth and Wisdom (2008).
